Anatomically-Correct Chocolate Cherry Hearts from Lagusta's Luscious

Lagusta’s Luscious, a 100% vegan company based in New Paltz, NY is making anatomically correct chocolate hearts for Valentine’s Day! These hearts are filled with crushed cacao nibs, roasted coffee beans, volcanic black salt, and dried cherries, and are available in a box of 8 hearts or as part of their 2014 Valentine’s Tower:

Ryan’s favorite of the ones we’ve tried so far is the Violet Caramel topped with a crunchy candied violet…it was really nice as the violet flavor was subtle and not overpowering. My favorite is the White Wine (Whitecliff Vineyards) and Bosc Pear White Chocolate Truffle Heart.

According to the card enclosure,

“We use local, fairly trade, equitably priced and ethically sourced ingredients. We want to live in a world where the people who produce our food get paid real prices for real labor and work under humane conditions.

We believe the earth is a source of astonishing richness that must be respected, so we use organic and beyond-organic ingredients.”

This is yet one more confirmation of a beautiful thing I discovered when I first went vegan and started meeting other vegans and discovering other vegan companies…so often, compassion is consistent. The vast majority of ethical vegans we’ve met are passionate about doing what they can to help make the world a better place for all, not just for animals.

I believe there’s still time to order these before Valentine’s Day…

Thanks for reading. Peace and love to all who live.
