Secret Vegan Menu Item at Sharky's Woodfired Mexican Grill
/The AJ Vegan Burrito is not listed anywhere on Sharky’s (a southern California chain) menu…but it is delicious. “Not many people know about the AJ!” the cashier whispered to me the last time I ordered it. I just smiled and gave her a knowing head nod back.
The AJ Burrito is one tasty burrito. It has black beans, brown rice, steamed broccoli, and guacamole. Just add your favorite salsa from the open salsa bar, plus a squeeze of fresh lime, and you’re good to go.
Sharky’s also has a new salad called Sharky’s Quinoa Salad, and this one they clearly identify as vegan. The flyer we saw at the restaurant said it is available for a limited time only. It has organic red and white quinoa, organic baby spinach, jicama, cucumbers, sweet peppers, cilantro, and green onions…topped with an avocado vinaigrette and sprinkled with flax and chia seeds. This salad is gorgeous and delicious! We haven't tried the other Harvest Quinoa Salad yet, but I will soon because I just received confirmation that the salad is vegan if you request it without the goat cheese.
They also have organic non-GMO tofu and veggies as an option for tacos, burritos, and power plates, making this a pretty vegan-friendly chain. If they ever decide to offer vegan sour cream, I would be thrilled. But until then, I will bring my special insulated purse (some call it lunch bag, whatever) with me so I can bring vegan sour cream and ice packs from home. Don’t judge, I can’t be the only vegan who does this…right?!
Thanks for reading. Peace and love to all who live.
